PSYCHOLOGICAL COPING SKILL WITH OCCUPATIONAL STRESS OF SUBMARINERS

This study was conducted among 250 submariners using Occupational Stress Inventory-Revised (OSI-R) questionnaires to measures the domains of occupational stress, psychological strain and coping resources of submariners. The rates of occupational stress factors that affect psychological coping skill including role insufficiency, role ambiguity and responsibility were 22.4%, 24.8% and 25.2%, respectively. The rates of personal factors including vocational strain, psychological strain, interpersonal strain and physical strain were 4.8%, 20.4%, 14.8% and 15.2%, respectively. The rates of recreation, self-care, social support and cognitive coping were 7.2%, 16%, 8.8% and 8.4%, respectively.
