EFFECTS OF ADAPTOGEN PREPARATION “ADESTEN” IN AMELIORATING CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY FUNCTIONS OF NAVY DIVERS
Objective: to study the effects of adaptogen preparation “Adasten” in improving the functions of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of navy divers. Subjects: 75 navy divers belong to the Special force Brigade X, Vietnam People's Navy were recruited in the present study. Methods: 75 navy divers were randomly divided into two groups: Adasten treated group (40 people) took Adasten 10mg x2 capsules x 40 days; placebo-treated group (35 people) took placebo capsules with the color, shapes and numbers of which were similar to those of Adasten capsules. Analyze the changes in respiratory recordings and EEG recordings, after an exercise testing before and after treatments. Results: after 40 days of treatments, in cardiovascular indexes: mean heartbeat and systolic blood pressure after the exercise test recovered faster, mean QRS durations in Adasten-treated group after the exercise testing were shorter than these in the placebo-treated group. Increase in amplitudes of T signals were smaller at the maximal exercise and the amplitudes of T signals decreased more quickly. In respiratory recordings, the vital capacity was significantly higher after an exercise testing in the Adasten-treated group; mean duration of stopping to breath following a maximal inhalation at the 1st minute after the exercise test were significantly higher than before treatments (p<0.05). SpO2 ameliorated significantly after treatments by Adesten (p<0.01). In conclusion: In the study, we provided new evidence of the effects of adaptogen preparation “Adasten” in improving the functions of the cardiovascular system and respiratory systems after the exercise testing in navy divers.
