SOME WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS IN TRENCHES AT ISLAND X

Soldiers working in trench environment on Island X are influenced by many adverse factors affecting their health such as: extreme microclimate conditions (high temperature, poor ventilation), high humidity, low light intensity, high noise level. In addition, soldiers may be affected by electromagnetic radiation, dust and so on. Adverse environmental conditions causing heat stress affects the health of the soldiers. However, our research results showed that during the state transitions, the obtained microclimate indexes and the noise level after the rehearsal all increased more highly than those of them before the rehearsal. WBGT index ranged from 29.5 to 31.9^oC. The measured light intensity ranged from 51.05 to 480.73 lux, not meeting the workplace lighting standards. The indicators of electric field strength and dust concentration in particular, the measured values were met with the permitted workplace conditions according to the regulation in both before and after the rehearsal of state transitions.
