TEST RESULT OF PROTECTION OF THE Mi HELICOPTER EXPLOITED IN TROPICAL CONDITIONS BY USING THE AIR DRYING TECHNOLOGY
This article presents the testing result while applicating the air drying technology developed by Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre in one military unit for protecting the Mi helicopter exploited in tropical conditions of Vietnam. The technology was accomplished by using an air drying equipment called ITM-OY7 connected to the helicopter by an air duct. The test was conducted for six months, from January to June 2018. It was shown that, the average value of relative humidity in the helicopter was automatically reduced and held at roughly 60% compared to 70÷92% of that in hangar. It was also demonstrated that, there was no failure caused by the high relative humidity on the helicopter, for which the air drying technology was applied, while there were 6 failures on other Mi helicopters due to the high relative humidity. It is recommended that this effective technology should be widely applicated in all air force units of Vietnam for protecting Mi helicopters against the negative impact of tropical climate.
